These Ancient Mesopotamia Books for kids are historical fiction & nonfiction books about the beginnings of recorded history in the Fertile Crescent and surrounding areas.

The Ancient Mesopotamia book list is split into 2 chronological sections.

First are kids books on Mesopotamia from c. 3500 B.C. – 2000 B.C., with several on Gilgamesh. Next comes titles set from c. 2000 – 1000 B.C., with selections from Israel, as well as a variety of other cultures.

The Bible story is told and embellished, with black and white illustrations that are clever and true to the time period, complete with Babylon’s Gate of Ishtar. Nicely done.
