What Books?

A Book In Time lists books that will enhance the understanding of important eras, people, and events in a typical study of history.

Content that is realistic to the time period and that promotes positive life principles are also determining factors. Preference is given, but not limited, to books with a Christian worldview. Book choices are made at the discretion of A Book In Time.


Recommended?

The book review below the title gives a brief synopsis of its content, and can include comments on what is good and what is not-so-good about the book, noting possible objectionable elements. Keep in mind that the reviews are strictly the personal opinions of the reviewer. Titles listed without comments have been recommended by respected sources, but have not yet been reviewed here.

For read-alouds, choose from the next grade level, i.e. E students can enjoy most UE books if read aloud to them. Be sure to note any cautions, particularly in JH and HS books, since some content is not suitable for younger children.

Because of the incredible value in many of the lower age-group books, we recommend that many of them not be limited to the younger child. These easy-to-read books allow the older student to gain a greater perspective of a particular historical theme in a short period of time, with minimal effort and a lot of fun!
